How I Improved Our Relationship This Year

How I Improved Our Relationship

I think our relationship is the best it’s ever been. I admit, in the past, especially during long distance in college, I was jealous (even just of the people who got to see him everyday).

Being long distance in college is tough. You’re both so busy, there’s the party culture, and visits are often short and spaced months apart.

So naturally you’d say of course our relationship is better than it was then, but I’d say our relationship is even better than it was last year after we first got married and lived together for most of the year. (Don’t get me wrong, we were perfectly happy, it’s just even better now!)

But why?

I now have something that I’m working on for myself. I have a flexible routine, regular workouts, and something to keep me busy.

When he goes to practice, I don’t feel bored anymore- I get my workout in.

When he wants to play video games, I don’t groan- I go sit at the kitchen table and get work done.

When he’s gone for several days, I‘m not lonely; I dive into my work, time flies, and he’s back before I know it.

My mood and confidence has improved so much (thank you regular workouts!), and naturally those affect our relationship as well.
